| November 15-21 will mark the 85th annual Children's Book Week. Begun in 1919, Book Week is promoted each year by the Children's Book Council in order to encourage literacy and love of reading among America's youth. H.E.A.R.T.S. would like to celebrate Children's Book Week by donating books to children in need. To this end, members of H.E.A.R.T.S. will be collecting children's books and/or donating books from their own collections to local homeless and domestic violence shelters (please click link to find a location near you.) Or books can be donated to your local Reach Out and Read / Pass the Book programs (click link to find a location near you.) Please be sure to include a note with your books stating that the books are being donated by an individual/familiy/group participating in H.E.A.R.T.S. -Perhaps you can also include bookmarks (made or designed by children) stating a sentiment such as: ~ "Happy Reading! From People with H.E.A.R.T.S. (www.H-E-A-R-T-S.org)" ~ Together we can change our world! |
